Canada fields a team for the 2000 MX des Nations Posted Wednesday, August 30, 2000 Canada will be joining 35 other teams in this year's MX des Nations in St. Jean d'Angely, France, September 9th and 10th. The team will consist of Kawasaki's Darcy Lange (Open), Honda's Doug Dehaan (250cc), Suzuki's Jason Thorne (125cc) and be managed by Paul Mares. Note: Jean Sebastien Roy will not attend as previously reported due to an ankle injury.
Intermediate Simon Bell injured Posted Tuesday, August 29, 2000 Lee Anne Avery reports local Intermediate racer Simon Bell was injured August 28th while practicing on his track in New Germany. Reportedly Simon fractured his eye socket and was under heavy sedation at Halifax's Queen Elizabeth II hospital. Update

Keith Ratchford injured Posted Thursday, August 24, 2000 While practicing at Loretta Lee's last weekend, Darren Van Snick reports fellow Intermediate rider Keith Ratchford crashed hard on a tabletop and injured his knee and broke his collarbone. Keith had an excellent Spring series finishing second in the Vet Master class. We wish him well and a speedy recovery.

News from La Tuque Posted Monday, August 14, 2000 Two Wheel/Pro-Action/Kawasaki homeboy Mitchell Cooke goes 4-9 in 125 National action Sunday and, despite a bout of heat exhaustion in the second 250 moto, salvages some points in that class. Hurricane Heidi Cooke meanwhile, grits through yet another injury and, amazingly, takes a win. Sinisalo-backed Boo Green makes the 125 program and Pro Cycle's Adam Turner escapes an injury...(?) Bird 31st overall at Loretta Lynn's Posted Saturday, August 12, 2000 For the first time in history an Atlantic Canadian rider has made the pilgrimage to the Loretta Lynn AMA Amateur national championships. In the super-competitive 125 12-15 Stock class, J&M Motorsports Jamie Bird finished a very respectable 31st overall amongst the best in America and around the world. He finished 28, 35 and 24th in his three motos held throughout the week. Congratulations Jamie!

Cooke headed for career best Posted Wednesday, August 9, 2000 Two-Wheel/Pro-Action/Kawasaki backed Mitchell Cooke is on track for his best year ever at the Canadian Nationals. With only two rounds remaining the young Brookfield, Nova Scotia native sits in a remarkable 11th place in the 125cc East, and 20th in the ultra-competitive 250cc class. With solid rides at the upcoming rounds in La Tuque and Walton, Mitchell should be able to move up several places - especially in the 250 class where several riders ahead of him are now out due to injury.

Riverglade National a huge success Posted Wednesday, August 9, 2000 If you missed it you should slap yourself. What an awesome spectacle, and a fantastic turnout. In the 125cc class local boys Two Wheel/Kawasaki backed Mitchell Cooke (8-4) and J&M Motosports Jamie Bird (18-9) kicked butt. Jamie's holeshot in the second 125cc moto was worth the price of admission.
