I think this is a great idea.

For those of you who don't know, Roddy MacLeod has managed this site on his own for 5 years. Managing AtlanticMX.com has taken time away from his family and children, as well as "his own" money.

Roddy has quietly, without complaint, used his own money so that we as a community have an online place to meet, chat, stay in touch and stay informed. As well as provide a service where we can buy and sell our equipment. All of this was gladly given to us for FREE.

I think Roddy is a very special person, who has given much more than he has received. I have known Roddy for almost 20 years and he has always been this type of person. A person we could all strive to be a bit more like, in terms of giving to the community.

I don't think many realize the silent sacrifice our globe-trotting website administrator has made. I want to take a second to point out this sacrifice he has made for us as a community.

AtlanticMX still offers many FREE services.
Free pictures.
Free Media updates and articles.
Free race info.

I think that it is time, we as a community, help support our online community board and help ease some of the burden Roddy has so gladly provided.

PLUS a FREE subscription to IMX is AWESOME!!!! This works out that we are actually only paying a mere $5 to help support the services of this site that we have for so long used without charge.

If I know Roddy, and I do, any finances that come into this site, will probably be used to make the site and services better for all users.

I think we all owe our support to help Roddy and AtlanticMX continue and grow.

You can still subscribe even without a credit card. Read it over again, you'll see a link there.

Also, the rest of the AMX site remains completely free. Only the bulletin board is subscriber based.

Well nobody likes to pay for something that used to be free,but I really like this forum and it's well worth the money.I was just about to send in my subscription to IMX so this works out great for me.If your into Atlantic region mx,there is no better place to get your info.

Thats good thingin an annual fee of $20 to view the Bulletin Board. You know what would even be better is an additional fee of $10 for every post that you make on the Board.....come on now!! what kind of a pipe dream would you have to be on to think that this is going to be good for the site. I can't see many people paying to $20 to access a on-line bulletin Board especially when you can go to much larger boards like motocross.com for free. As if motocross is not already a costly sport. I for one got in to the sport by hearing about this site it got me really interested so i loged on and asked questions and then later looked into purchasing a bike. I can hear larry announcing at the tracks " hey everyone go on-line line and visit www.atlanticmx.com although it is going to cost $20 to be able to get any use out of it....lol.

I hope by the number of posts so far that this is not sign to come. I don't like to have to pay for things anymore than the next person but I do think that Roddy did the right thing because he had to bring the site under control. As we are seeing with the use of off road vehicles it only takes a few to ruin for everybody.

Way to go Roddy! I'm glad to see you make the move to a subscription based board. I'm suprised you held out on this long. You deserve a spot in the atlantic motocross hall of fame as much or more than the deuce. As for the people who have a problem with the fee, well maybe they would like to take some time and act as moderators and chase off all the scally wags and ne'er do wells'. If you can afford to by a bike or a cmrc licence you can spring 20 clams to support the best damn mx site in the land. In fact I'll buy subs for the first two people that can email me with Roddys current location in the the world.

well this is a bad way to start my day.sit down at the smart box and find out that it cost money to se what all the news and gossip is in the atlantic mx scene.but one of the main reasons i go to the board is to keep my eye out for a good deal on a bike in the next couple months.this 20 dolla fee makes me wonder if the classified board will have many people poasting anymore now that it will cost them.as for the ones that caused havoc,simple solution,dont read there post.

Although, I too don't like paying for something when it used to be free, but this site kicks butt now, and is gaining more popularity by the minute, so mesures need to be taken to keep it cutting edge!

Excellent bonus to have a year subscription to IMX for joining. But, what happens if you already subscribe? Does the free subcription get carried over to next year? Just curious, I'll be signing up and paying my $20 either way!

Sorry Roddy , but I don't really like the new set up. I agree that you do a ton of work for free, and believe me, I feel your pain, but I am attached to my monicker and I hate to have to buy 2 subscriptions for one house hold just so I can still be Islandgrl. As well , I have recomended dozens of people to your site who were looking to buy bikes. Many have logged on and viewed the classified , purchased bikes, and that is it. These people won't use the classifieds anymore. I also wonder if my buddies Hollywoodfan, and Cooterfan will be willing to pay 20$ just to come on here and pick on people I hope so! I wonder if you could make it so people could view the boards without subscribing, but need one to post? Just a suggestion! Anyway, do what you gotta do man.Keep up the good work!

i have no problem with having to pay the fee im just curious about the email. it seems sites these days you pay for the email and the board is free

Hey Roddy, 1st of all, good call, I hope this may stop the bull that happens from time to time, May stop some of these kids who just reply to stuff and don't call when you give them a reply, and the bull of people just being a pain. Not just kids, some out there have a intrest that is true.
As far as myself, I do not know how this will work for me, I use my computer at work and it is just full of firewalls, so I don't know if I can sign up, I tried with the sign up sheet and it will not allow me to do so. I do not mind sending a money order to your address that you supplied, but will I get back on.
Mine is a goverment computer and will not let me sign up for anything at all- ex EBAY or you now.
Let me know if I can still get on somehow and I will send the money off. If you want, just send me a e-mail at my e-mail acc.
As you know, I would sign back up, I do have about 100 more posts than anyone, just becouse I like to babble, but I use this everyday

Hey Roddy..I am just wondering if you accept Money Orders being sent to your address to get signed up for the bullestin board? My mom doesn't want to give her credit card number out on the net for some reason even with the "Safe Ordering" process you use.. If you do accept money orders..what is your address? And will I still get to do everything I could on the bulletin board and I would if i signed up giveing you the credit card number on here? And do I still get the free IMX magazine subscription? Thanx a lot!
