Motopark, one of Canada's oldest motocross tracks, is taking the lead to minimize noise levels at their events in 2007.
Motopark, located in Chatsworth Ontario, Canada, has implemented new sound limits for Off Road Motorcycles. The limits will be in effect for any Sanctioning Body holding events at Motopark as well as attendees of our Motocross Academy, Summer Camps, Practice riders and users of our various tracks & trails.
Motopark will conduct sound tests this summer and effective with the start of the 2007 season will limit noise levels to 96 db. This is the guideline established by the FIM (2006 level is 98 db) who seem to be taking the lead in reducing the noise level on Off Road competition motorcycles.
The guidelines for testing and levels can be found at www.fim.ch under Motocross Rules and Regulations.
Motopark CEO Carl Bastedo commented that Motopark was taking this position re decibel levels as a pro-active measure designed to help create a more positive public response to Off Road Riding Areas throughout North America. He would like to acknowledge the work of Justin Moore of Ignition Racing, Ajax, Ontario and Barry Heatherington of SJG Fourwinds Motocross Park located near Port Perry, Ontario who have done extensive testing on Ignition Racings soon to be released "dB DAWG" muffler plug which will help Motopark and other Off Road Riding Parks attain reduced sound levels.
