Jaime Swinkels

While hanging out at the Izaak Walton Killam Hospital with injured younger brother Robbie, Jaime Swinkels answered some questions for us below.  Jaime races the Women's division and is the current CMRC Atlantic Women's Fall Series champion.  At the close of the season she purchased a new 2001 CR 125 and is looking forward to another race season this year.

When did you start racing?
2000 is my third year.  My first race was in Kingston, Nova Scotia.

How did you do?
I came in third or fourth - it depends how many girls were there but I came last...

What was your first bike?
A 1991 RM 125 from Dale Toole.

How did you get into racing?
Robbie (brother).

Who do you think is the "best rider", or, who do you model yourself after?
I don't think I model myself after anybody, I just go and ride.

Superfast Ladies rider Jaime Swinkels. She's riding a new CR 125 this season for the Pro Cycle/Answer Team.

Pizza or Chinese?
Chinese.

Who's the toughest person you've had to race against?
Heidi!!  (Heidi Cooke).

What was your greatest moment in racing?
I'd say it was winning the 1999 Spring Championship.

If you could be racing anywhere, for any team, who would it be?
Some team in Europe I think.

What makes you better than your competition?
More desire!

125's or 250's?
I haven't ridden a 250 so it has to be 125's.

Where are you from?
Belmont, Nova Scotia (near Truro).

What's your next big challenge?
Doing well in the (2000) Fall Championships.  (Since this interview Jaime won the Women's 2000 Fall series Championship).

MC or RC?
MC.

Who sponsors you?
Pro Cycle, Barb's Berries, Auto Trans Garage.

How old are you?
17.

Who would you like to throw a big billowing roost over?
Oh, I'm not mean like that!

What are you best at on the track?
Anything but jumps.

Parting words...
I hope my brother has used up all the broken bones in this family!

CGIWrap Error: Script Execution Failed
CGIWrap Error: Script Execution Failed

CGIWrap encountered an error while attempting to execute this script:

Error Message: Permission denied
Error Number: 13
This message usually indicates there is a problem with the script itself. Often this indicates either that the #! line of the script is incorrect, or the script was uploaded in binary mode instead of ascii mode. Check to make sure that the script does not have control-M's at the end of every line. That will prevent it from executing. An easy fix that takes care of this most of the time is to put '#!/.../perl --' instead of '#!/.../perl' on the first line of the script. This is typically a problem if the script was edited or uploaded from a DOS/Windows/Macintosh station to a unix based server.

If you are not the owner of this script, please forward this error and the URL that caused it to the script owner. That is often the component in the URL right after /cgiwrap/.
