Loch
Lomond Motocross, June 24
Hello from Cape Breton home of the Loch Lomoond MotoCross Track. I thought I would drop a line about the race last Sunday June 24th. It turned out to be quite an event, we had local
newspaper, radio station live broadcast and ATV News was there to film and do a short piece for
the evening news at 6:00 and 11:00 pm Sunday evening. As I had mentioned before this was the first of a three part series , the next scheduled race will be held on August 19 th with the last of the series in October. These like the indoor have no point value in the standings but make for a great time.
A crowd of about one thousand motocross fans were treated to some great racing action. At one of last years races Mitchell Cooke wowed the crowd with big air and fast lap times. This year
Adam Turner, Avery MacDonald , Daniel MacLean were turning up big air jumps over the "spectator double".
Justin Kenny was also turning heads skying out a borrowed KX 100 over the table top jump after his KX 85 ate the crank. Jamie Dunlap was riding well, leading the expert class but was bitten by the table top jump. Tony Katryk and Dereck 'Snuffy' Selfridge got some ooos and ahhhs from the crowd as they over shot the " spectator double " and landed in the junipers.
There were sixty-five registered riders. Also five ladies were riding in the race. I will have the official race results shortly and will forward them as a matter of interest. I have some photos from the race attached.
It would be kind of neat if you could post this on the Atlanticmx site. Thanks.
David MacLean
