Robbie Swinkels injured:

The MacLeod family stopped in this evening to see how Robbie this-ain't-no-big-deal Swinkels was making out with his broken leg.  Well, it turns out it's not just a broken leg he's got...

Add in a broken right wrist and a broken left thumb!  Through it all he's still the same laid back kinda guy we've all come to know and like.

He confides the jump which did him in was the infield tabletop at his practice track.  For any of you who've been there recently you'll know the landing area was beefed up a little while ago making the obstacle a little tricky to negotiate.

Robbie says he was all set up to do it except at the last moment his front wheel was in one rut and his back in another.  The resultant kicked-out casing on the raised backside stopped the bike, and Robbie, in their tracks.  Robbie adds: "I wasn't crying or anything, I just waited there until someone came by".  "I knew it was broken - I could just tell".

When we asked his Mom Jan if she had any comments, she just turned and said, "Yeah, blankety, blank, blank, blank....".

Yikes.

For any of you wanting to wish Robbie well, he's at the IWK Children's Hospital in Halifax until the 18th of August.  He's in room 528.  Their email is: swinks@ns.sympatico.ca
