No
Toil air filter system
by Joe
Treen
| Ok, everybody's favorite job
now…AIRFILTERS. Yes, the bane of the dirt bikers existence. I think I can speak for all of you out there when I say how much I enjoy cleaning filters. Oiling them is bad enough, but scrubbing these dirty little critters in kerosene, gasoline or your favorite "toxic brew" like some sort of sadistic "washer woman"
('er…person…). Then having to deal with the "hazardous waste" liquid that remains…I know none of you, environmentally conscience riders out there dump this down the drain…do you?
Well,
rejoice! A new product has reached the market
that make this task at least slightly less
painful. Enter…No Toil. This product lives up
to it's name too. Product comes in a
"kit" form, at least for now…
|
 |
The
kit includes filter oil, rim grease (…that's
filter rim), powdered cleaner and, at least for
now, a FREE filter! Yes you read correctly, free
filter, and a decent one at that (virtually
identical to a Twin Air).
I have been using this product for most of this
year. The oil is some type of alcohol based
(smells strong, in fact, strong enough that I
don't recommend using without ventilation). Oil
is very thin in consistency and easy to soak
into filter. When it dries, oil is about the
consistency of heavy gear oil. Although it is
not as tacky as some oils out there it does not
migrate (stays suspended on filter), even after
being left untouched for several weeks.
The real joy is when it is time to clean that
"nasty" filter. Just fill a sink, or
bucket with about 3-4" of nice warm water,
add a bit of the powdered cleaner, stir and dunk
that filter. After short soak and a little scrub
the filter comes out beautifully clean, all
without the strong smells and mess of solvents.
Apparently you can even wash filters in
automatic washing machine using this product,
although I will leave that to someone with a
more "gracious" spouse. A little rinse
with fresh, clean water and the job is done. And
best of all, the waste can go straight down the
drain!…without guilt.
There have been warnings issued by one
particular filter manufacturer (UniFilter) that
product should not be used on their filters, as
it has some reaction with particular foam used
in their filters. (I have used it on my Uni's
with no appreciable damage…but).
Overall this product is convenient and
environmentally friendly (all you tree huggers
out there). Performance is good, with no
problems experience, even under extremely dusty
conditions. I rate this product as very good,
with some room for improvement in the
"tackiness" area (although no
detrimental effect of "not-so-tacky oil).
Ask your dealer…for the price of a filter, you
get the whole kit, including a filter! Good
deal! You can never have too many filters. |

CGIWrap Error: Script Execution Failed
| CGIWrap Error: Script Execution Failed | CGIWrap encountered an error while attempting to execute
this script:
- Error Message: Permission denied
- Error Number: 13
This message usually indicates there is a problem with the script
itself. Often this indicates either that the #! line of the script
is incorrect, or the script was uploaded in binary mode instead of
ascii mode. Check to make sure that the script does not have
control-M's at the end of every line. That will prevent it from
executing. An easy fix that takes care of this most of the time
is to put '#!/.../perl --' instead of '#!/.../perl' on the first
line of the script.
This is typically a problem if the script was edited or uploaded
from a DOS/Windows/Macintosh station to a unix based server.
If you are not the owner of this script, please forward this error
and the URL that caused it to the script owner. That is often the
component in the URL right after /cgiwrap/.
